My Approach

Anti-Oppressive | Relational | Compassion-based

“Recovery can only take place in the context of relationships; it cannot happen in isolation” - Judith Herman, author of Trauma and Recovery

  • Anti-Oppression—Our mental health is intimately influenced by identity—race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc. What messages and restrictions does society put on us and how does this impact our sense of self, our relationships, or how we perform at work or school? How does access to resources impact our ability to thrive? These are the types of questions that I hold in mind and explore with clients. I value equity. I am committed to ongoing professional development to critically reflect on how my areas of privilege and oppression impact how I show up as a therapist. The end goal: providing high quality, anti-oppressive care to people of all identities, especially people experiencing oppression.

  • Ever feel stuck, like different parts of you want different things? Internal Family Systems, commonly referred to as “parts work” honors that we all contain multitudes getting to the root of our internal conflicts and stuckness. This helps establish internal harmony and balance so you have your own personal internal justice league all working optimally toward your goals.

  • Reparative relationships are integral to healing. I put great care into establishing a relationship where you feel trusting enough to show up as your full self and can feel seen, understood and respected.

  • Psychodynamic approach—I can help you explore how your past relationships and life experiences impact you today. This builds valuable insight and helps us to target and work through the roots of your mental health struggles.

  • Body-based approach—At a safe pace, tapping into your body (i.e. heart rate, areas of tension or relief, etc.) can help build greater resiliency, improve how you cope, connect with your intuition and discharge stuck emotions.
